Led by Chairman Stephen K. Green, The HSBC Chairman’s Club 2007 took place at the Grand Hyatt Beijing. HSBC’s top tier clients from around the world were invited to this elite conference, focussed on Education.
The event began with an entertainment-packed Welcome Dinner staged by Luminous. A custom-made ‘thought bubble’ projection system positioned in the middle of two Chinese lattice doors set the stage for rousing performances by modern Chinese girl-band Muscat and drum ensemble Red Poppy. Guests were also entertained with the legendary Peacock Dance by Yang Li Ping, now declared a “National Treasure” of China.
For the daytime conference sessions, Luminous created an elaborate and intricate set based on a given event identity: ‘Book on the Globe’; to create a striking live environment that hosted an illustrious run down of international speakers and panellists. The first day focused on education with opening remarks by Mr. Green and Dame Mary Richardson, Chief Executive of the HSBC Education Trust. A panel discussion centred on issues relating to equality and leading UK Futurologist Dr James Martin presented transformations in education. The highlight of the day was a keynote address by Former British Prime Minster Tony Blair who talked on education and leadership.
Day Two focused on China on the global stage, panellists and speakers included David Wei, Chief Executive Officer of Alibaba.com, PRC and
Long Yongtu, Secretary General, Boao Forum for Asia and Former Vice Minister, Ministry of Foreign Trade and Economic Co-operation (MOFTEC), PRC.
